I have heard that quote in the past. A human came up with the quote, not God. So do I agree or disagree??? Well, sometimes I don't know how I will get through a difficult time. Sometimes I find the strength in a shorter amount of time than I thought it would take. I can't say that I agree or disagree at this tender age of 41. I used to think about that quote a lot if you can believe it. But I have never come up with an answer to your question Heather. I had discussed the quote with people when I lived in Michigan. I would have to say, people were divided on the issue. Please give us an update in the future on what you think my sweet Heather.
Well I guess it's time for your other aunt to weigh in on this issue too. I am very familiar with this quote Heather. In fact, this quote had a positive impact on my life at one time. I read your question a few days ago and I went back to look at my journal from almost 15 years ago. I was in the midst of a severe depression back then, and I wrote about finding this quote and what it meant me. What I got from it was confidence. I read it and I thought, if God won't give me anything I can't handle, then he must think I can handle this, and if He believes I can handle this then how can it be too hard for me? I made the phone calls I needed to make and I found my way out of that depression. That quote helped me then...when I needed it. But this is now, and now I don't take it as literally as I did when I was younger. I agree with Robin...I don't believe that God is "doling out happiness and tradgedies." He doesn't cause accidents and he doesn't give us winning lottery tickets. What I do believe is that no matter what happens, if I choose to focus on Love (God) then I can find my way through any situation. It's a choice though...it's up to me. He doesn't force me love him or trust him.

I don't think that "God" is "up there" doling out happiness and tragedies.
